WORK & REST: Perfect make for those in-work naps

clip_image001

No matter how physically fit you are, extended work sessions take the breath out of even the most vigorous and force them to take a break and relax in between work. Adding ease to your work, South Korean designer Kim Yong Seong has come up with a functional furniture unit that lets you stretch your body and have a nap in the middle of those stretched hours. Entitled "WORK and REST," the modular furniture is essentially a work station, which becomes a relaxing chair or a lounge, so you could refresh yourself without the need of leaving your workspace.

clip_image001

With growing popularity of induction cooking, we have some of the most refined, both visually and in functionality, cooktops in the recent past, which not only boost the flavor and worth of your meals but also enhances the decor of your place. However, the latest cooktop by Singapore based designer Hairy Mammoth is an induction cooktop with difference that that approaches the way of cooking in a whole new manner. Dubbed "TOUCH," the induction cooktop features Tactile Morphing surface, which allows controls to be more interactive. The controls, feedback and the heating elements work in synchronization between one another. This process brings about a new form of communication between user and controls, allowing users to literally feel the "heat" during cooking, delivering a differentiated and tactile user experiences.

Cut and Store In One

Joseph Joseph is renowned for coming up with the most stylish and useful kitchen tools, and the latest one in their collection is the Slice & Store Kitchen Cutting board and Knife. So is this a regular cutting board that comes in a choice of electric hues? No, the color choices are there but ain’t regular, it’s got this special niche on the side where you can tuck in the matching (high quality Japanese stainless steel) knife. Smart right?

Coffee Cup Plant

Y in Cup is a project that has good intentions. It wants you to re-use your disposable coffee cup (yes the Starbucks variety) to grow more plants. I mean tiny plants that can dot your home, office or wherever. A combo of seed and fertilizer disk comes attached to the bottom of the Y Cup; simply tear open the package and empty the contents in the rinsed out cup. Add some soil from your backyard and you're good to go.

Like I said the intentions of the project are good, but I don't think it's possible to grow plants out of every coffee cup that you use. For an addict like me, who goes through countless cups of coffee, it would be a waste of seeds and fertilizers coz I know I won't be able to plant and maintain so many pots! A better idea would be to supply optional cups, like you could purchase cups with or without the seed disks. That would make more sense.
