The Universal Phone is designed for both blind and sighted people. How? Thousands of micro pins dynamically raise and lower forming a tactile surface for all to get touchy with. Sighted people get the elusive tactile feedback they’re missing with ordinary touch-screens and blind people get a whole new interface made of braille. The idea was inspired by the little raised dot on the number 5 on almost all mobile keypads. Hey if it works, why not extrapolate the idea into a whole new interface?

Robot Overloads Disguised As Peace Robots
August 13, 2009 at 12:17 pm

We may not be able to end all wars but if this quattro is right, we can at least stop people from participating. Por que? Peace Robots serve the United Nations as an ad-hoc intervention squad. They’re subject to UN principles; neutrality and non-partisanship. “Non-lethal” systems enable them to defuse hot stops and potentially save civilian lives. Know what else? Peace Robots are not remote controlled. They’re self-governed and operate in swarms. O’rly? Please discuss.

Be Neat and Tidy, Refresh Charging Station
August 13, 2009 at 12:09 pm

Refresh is a charging station for 3 or more devices (depends on how large they are). The station comes with connectors for your most popular power hungry devices (finger points at my iPhone, Blackberry, and iPod). If your device uses mini, micro and standard USB, you’re covered too. It’s not anything fancy but as with all Bluelounge products, it’s about tidying up your space. Hit the link for a full list of compatible devices.

Da Balloon Light
August 13, 2009 at 3:01 am

Tis a variable volume lamp, the variable volume lamp you’ve always wanted! Aïssa Logerot inflates the lighting business with this thing called the “Lampad'air.” It’s an inflating lamp on a tiny tube with an inflating device attached. The light is intense. When the lamp inflates, the triangles move away from one another. When the triangles move apart, the light that can escape from the lamp increases! Wacky.

What’s really wacky is the fact that this balloon lamp does not float… unless you modify the air pump to include helium. Another OFFICIAL thing I should mention, (ie this is really real,) is that the air pump includes a program that allows the lamp autonomous fluctuation of its volume.

Oh my goodness.

That will go very well for that lady there, who is very obviously drinking absinthe. Very very thick and non-watered down in the least… absinthe.

This particular model was realized with Matthew Marino, who is definitely the dude to see if you want to roll with new interactive designers in Paris.

Algae-Powered Transport Truck
August 13, 2009 at 3:01 am

This is a vehicle, for the world, to transport goods around the world, with a lot less pollution! Sounds great, doesn’t it? It’s able to drive on the road, get aboard some train tracks, travel really far (on ALGAE fuel cells!), get off the tracks, and go to where it needs to be! Fun, yes?

This particular vehicle also brings into light the GPS tracking system as mapped unto railroads (which will of course become standard once all cars are rail-efficient).

The flexibility of the road and the environmentally sound capabilities of rail travel. And it transports one of those HUGE storage containers, too!

Squeezing Delight!
August 13, 2009 at 3:00 am

I am so in LOVE with this squeezer! Exquisite in style, it's one of those classy looking tools that don't just sit pretty on your kitchen counter top; it's actually functional! The hand-held reamer is dishwasher safe and has a cup fashioned at the base to catch the pips and bits. In a time that we see dime-a-dozen non-functional jazzed up tools, this utility "Catcher" comes as a refresher.

No More Double Trouble
August 13, 2009 at 3:00 am

Scenario 1: Dishwasher load is done, now you take out the dishes and place them in their respective shelves, cabinets etc. Been doing this all your life!
Scenario 2: Wall mounted Electrolux Bifoliate Double Dishwasher uses one compartment to clean the dishes via ultrasonic wave technology;you then transfer the clean load into the next shelf. Space saving, less time consuming, done in a jiffy. Which Scene do you like?
