The Boucheron Julia necklace was designed by industrial designer Marc Newson for Boucheron and is based on geometric shapes called a fractal. The mathematical formula for fractals was discovered by the French mathematician Gaston Julia after whom the necklace is named. The necklace consists of more than two thousand diamonds and sapphires arranged in a way which makes them appear to be floating in a fractal pattern. The necklace took over one thousand five hundred hours to assemble and uses special three pronged settings to keep the setting hidden as much as possible. The Boucheron Julia Necklace by Marc Newson is a unique item and is currently available from the Boucheron store in Place Vendôme in Paris.
