Mia Mala McDonald is a photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. She spends her spare time tap dancing, driving to the country, treasure hunting and playing with her cats. This series was created for the exhibition THREAD. Of this work, she says, 'The label, Skinny Nelson, asked that I come up with a creative series that featured their clothing. My idea was to shoot a series of portraits that explore the ways in which individuals choose to represent themselves. For each portrait, we invited the subject to offer their own physical or emotional response to the clothing. Offering a glimpse into the private world of everyday heroes, the Thread series includes indigenous activist Tracey Onus, musician Tim Harvey, sculptor Russel Petherbridge, model Lily Hart, dancer Shian Law and drag king, Rabbit Hutch'.
