Kinect will use only a ’single-digit’ percentage of Xbox 360 CPU power

Kinect will use only a 'single-digit' percentage of Xbox 360 CPU power

Have your Kinect yet? Maybe, or maybe not. But Microsoft is making sure that you will. You see, they've researched to a great extend for their Kinect, and the Kinect sure went under some super-machine research in their lab.

The highly sophisticated webcam has undergone some algorithmic optimizations and now Alex Kipman, lead software developer for what used to be known as Project Natal, tells us that the Kinect's processing overhead for the Xbox 360 console will be no greater than a "single-digit" percentage. This is short of a few digits from his last statement that says the Kinect will consume 10 to 15 percent of the Xbox's power reactor. Well, who cares really? Everyone will have a smooth gaming session playing with their virtual pets tomorrow once the Kinect goes live.
